At Avangart Dental Clinic in Istanbul, we know a small cavity can quickly become a bigger problem if you delay treatment. That is why we make dental filling treatment simple, calm, and comfortable for patients travelling to Turkey.
Many of our international patients choose us because the cost of filling teeth at home can be very high. The cost of a tooth filling in Turkey is often more affordable, while still allowing access to safe, natural-looking materials.
Before treatment, our dentist checks your tooth, your bite, and how deep the decay has gone. For small or medium cavities, we may suggest tooth-coloured composite fillings. If the damage is larger, ceramic inlays and onlays may be a better way to support the tooth.
Most fillings are done in one visit under local anaesthesia, so you should not feel any pain during the procedure. Before we begin, we clearly explain our filling materials to ensure that you are informed and confident.

What is a Dental Filling?
A dental filling is used to repair a tooth after decay has caused a small hole, also known as a cavity. The dentist removes the soft, damaged portion of the tooth, cleans it, and seals it with a safe filling material. This helps stop decay from moving deeper into the enamel and dentin.
Early treatment matters. A small cavity may need a simple filling, but deep decay can reach the nerve and lead to pain, infection, or root canal treatment. That is why we advise patients not to wait until their tooth starts hurting.
At Avangart Dental Clinic, our fillings are planned around the size and position of the cavity. For example, a small front tooth cavity may need a tooth-coloured repair, while a larger back tooth may need stronger support.
Before treatment, the tooth may look dark, feel sensitive, or appear damaged. After the filling, the tooth is sealed, restored to shape, making it more comfortable to use.

Are You a Good Candidate? Indications and Contraindications
A filling is a good choice when the tooth still has enough healthy structure to hold the repair. At Avangart Dental Clinic, we check the cavity size, tooth strength, bite pressure, and X-rays before we decide.
Indications:
You may be a good candidate for a filling if you have:
- A small or medium cavity
- Tooth decay that has not reached the nerve
- Minor chips or worn tooth edges
- An old filling that needs replacement
- A front tooth that needs a natural-looking repair
This is a simple form of tooth repair in Turkey. We choose the right filling types based on where the tooth is, how deep the decay is, and how much pressure the tooth takes when you bite.
Contraindications
A filling may not be enough if a large part of the visible tooth is broken or badly decayed. In this case, dental crowns may provide better tooth protection because they cover and support the remaining structure.
A filling may also be unsuitable if the decay extends below the gum line, which is known as sub-gingival decay, or if we are unable to keep the tooth dry during treatment. Moisture can weaken the bond between the tooth and the filling.
Severe bruxism, or teeth grinding, can also cause fillings to crack. If decay is very deep or the tooth is badly weakened, we may discuss stronger options such as emax crowns for severe decay.

Which Materials Are Used? Types of Dental Fillings We Offer
When patients compare dental filling options in Turkey, the material is one of the most important factors. At Avangart Dental Clinic, we focus on modern, tooth-coloured, and biocompatible materials that repair the tooth without making the result look obvious.
Materials Are Used:
Composite Resin Fillings
Composite resin is often called a white filling. We use it for small to medium cavities, especially when the tooth still has good support.
It is a good choice for front teeth because the shade can be matched to your natural tooth colour. It also bonds directly to the tooth, which helps restore shape and strength in a conservative way.
Ceramic or Porcelain Inlays and Onlays
A simple filling isn’t always the best choice for larger cavities, especially on the back teeth. Because they do most of the chewing, back teeth often need stronger repairs.
In these cases, we may suggest ceramic or porcelain inlays and onlays. They are custom-made to fit your tooth closely, feel natural when you bite, and give better support where the tooth has lost more structure.
They also resist stains well and blend nicely with your natural teeth. However, since they need extra design and lab work, the back tooth cavity filling price is usually higher than a simple composite filling.
Amalgam or Silver Fillings
Silver fillings are less common today because many patients prefer a more natural look. If you already have an old or failing amalgam filling, we can check whether it should be replaced with a tooth-coloured option.
Types of Dental Fillings We Offer:
Temporary and permanent fillings serve different purposes. A temporary filling protects the tooth for a short time, while a permanent filling is made to stay in place for years.
Temporary Fillings
We may place a temporary filling when your treatment needs more than one visit. For example, if we are making a custom ceramic inlay or onlay in our CAD/CAM lab, the temporary filling protects the tooth while your final restoration is prepared.
We may also use it when the tooth needs further checks before we decide on the final treatment. The best temporary tooth filling is the one that seals the tooth well, feels comfortable in your bite, and can be removed safely when the permanent restoration is ready.
Permanent Fillings
Permanent fillings are used after the decay is cleaned and the tooth is ready for long-term repair. These may include composite resin fillings or ceramic restorations, depending on the size and position of the cavity.
Your Dental Holiday: The Dental Filling Procedure Step-by-Step
Your dental holiday for a tooth filling is usually simple and short. In many cases, the treatment can be completed in a single visit, which is helpful if you are travelling from the UK or another country for treatment abroad.
- At Avangart Dental Clinic, we guide you through each step:
Arrival and Clinic Visit
Our team can help with VIP airport pickup, hotel guidance, and translation support when needed. Once you arrive at the clinic, we check your tooth, take any needed X-rays, and explain your treatment plan, timeline, and filling cost before we begin.
Removing Decay
Our dentist gently removes the decayed part of the tooth. The aim is to clean the cavity while keeping as much healthy tooth structure as possible.
Bite Check and Polishing
Finally, we shape and polish the filling to make it feel smooth and natural when you bite.
Local Anaesthesia
We numb the area around the tooth with local anaesthesia. This helps keep the procedure calm and pain-free.
Cleaning, Etching, and Bonding
The cavity is cleaned and prepared. For composite fillings, we use an etching gel and bonding material so the filling can attach firmly to the tooth.
Placing the Filling
The composite resin is applied in small layers and hardened under a UV curing light. If you require a ceramic inlay or onlay, we take a digital scan and create a custom restoration.
Dental Fillings Cost: UK vs Turkey Price Comparison
The cost of filling teeth in Turkey is often much lower than in the UK, especially for private treatment.
| Dental Fillings | GBP (£) | EUR (€) | USD ($) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Composite Filling Small | £50 | €57 | $68 |
| Composite Filling Medium | £60 | €70 | £81 |
| Composite Filling Large | £70 | €81 | £95 |
The exact back tooth cavity filling price depends on the size of the cavity, how many tooth surfaces are damaged, and whether you need composite resin or a ceramic inlay/onlay. A small front tooth filling is usually simpler than a large molar repair, because back teeth take more chewing pressure.
Lower filling costs in Turkey do not mean lower clinical care. Prices are usually more affordable because clinic running costs, lab fees, and exchange rates are lower than those in the UK.
At Avangart Dental Clinic, we do not cut corners on dental consumables. Your dentist will explain the material, the treatment plan, and the total cost before we begin, so there are no surprises.

FAQs About Dental Fillings
Fillings are made to last for years, but they do not last forever. How long they last depends on the tooth, the filling size, your bite, and how well you care for your teeth. If you grind your teeth, we may recommend a night guard to reduce pressure on the filling and help it last longer.
No. We numb the tooth and the area around it before we start, so you should not feel pain during the filling. You may feel light pressure or vibration, and some mild sensitivity after treatment can happen for a short time.
A composite filling can last around 5 to 10 years with good care. Small fillings usually last longer than very large ones. Good brushing, daily flossing, regular check-ups, and a well-balanced bite can all help the filling last longer.
