Root Canal Treatment Cost in Turkey vs UK (2026 Pricing)

If you are comparing private dental prices and asking, “How much is root canal treatment?”, the answer depends on the tooth, the number of canals, infection level, and whether a final crown is needed. At Avangart Dental Clinic in Istanbul, we give you a clear treatment plan after your panoramic X-ray or 3D scan, so you understand the cost of root canal treatment before we begin.

Treatment itemAvangart Dental Clinic, IstanbulUK private clinics
Front tooth root canalStarting from £130Usually £500–£700
Molar root canalStarting from £200Often £800–£1,500+

The root canal treatment price in Turkey is usually lower because clinic operating costs are different, not because the care is of lower quality. Our aim is to provide affordable treatment without compromising on diagnosis, safety, or quality.

Many patients compare the cost of root canal treatment in Istanbul with prices in the UK and across Europe. Although other cities in Turkey are also considered, Istanbul is often the preferred choice because it is easy to fly to, has a wide range of hotels, and is convenient for international patients getting to and from the clinic.

If your tooth also needs a crown, we will explain the cost of the root canal and the crown separately, including suitable material options such as zirconia or E.max.

What is a Root Canal Treatment?

A root canal treatment is a way to save a tooth that is badly infected or damaged, instead of removing it. Every tooth has a soft center called the dental pulp, which contains nerve tissue and blood vessels. Deep decay, a crack, or trauma to this area can result in severe toothache, swelling, sensitivity, or an abscess.

During the root canal process, we gently remove the infected pulp, clean and disinfect the inside of the tooth, and then seal the canals to stop bacteria from returning. After the infection is removed, the tooth can often stay in place and function much like any other tooth.

At Avangart Dental Clinic in Istanbul, we always look at whether your natural tooth can be saved before considering tooth extraction. For many international patients, having root canal treatment in Turkey means getting timely care, clear explanations, and treatment at a lower cost than many private clinics in the UK or Europe.

If a tooth cannot be saved, options such as dental implants may be discussed. But if the tooth can be saved, keeping it is often the easier and more natural choice.

Meet Our Endodontist Turkey: Expert Care You Can Trust

Root canal treatment requires careful diagnosis, precise cleaning of the canals, and a clear plan for restoring the tooth afterward.

At Avangart Dental Clinic, root canal cases are evaluated by our experienced dental team under the clinical leadership of Dr. Emrah Yeşilyurt, Founder, Board Member, and Medical Director of Avangart Clinic. Since 2008, he has worked across surgical and multidisciplinary dental settings, with broad experience in complex treatment planning, implant surgery, full-mouth rehabilitation, and digital dentistry.

We also work with Dr. Egemen Aras, a Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry graduate with strong experience in prosthetic, cosmetic, implant-supported, and restorative treatments. This matters because saving the tooth is only one part of root canal care; the final restoration must also protect your bite, chewing pressure, and long-term comfort.

A general dentist may treat simple cases, but more complex root canal problems need deeper attention to the root canal system.

That is why we use modern diagnostic and treatment tools where clinically needed, including:

To us, trustworthy care means helping you understand your options clearly, including whether the tooth can be saved, whether a crown is needed, and what outcome you can realistically expect.

Step-by-Step Guide to the Root Canal Treatment Process

We keep the root canal treatment process clear, calm, and predictable, especially for patients traveling from abroad. Before we begin, we explain what we see on your X-ray or 3D CBCT scan, what needs to be treated, and whether the tooth can be safely restored afterward.

3D diagnostics and local anesthesia.

We start with a clinical examination and digital imaging to check the roots, bone, infection level, and canal shape. Local anaesthetic is used to make sure the tooth is fully numb, so the procedure should feel manageable and comfortable rather than painful. If you feel very anxious, we can also discuss our sedation options before treatment.

Removing the infected pulp.

A small opening is made in the tooth to reach the dental pulp. We then remove the infected or dead nerve tissue that is causing pain, swelling, or pressure inside the tooth.

Cleaning and shaping the canals.

We carefully clean, disinfect, and shape the root canals using fine instruments and specialist irrigation solutions. In more complex cases, we may also use rotary endodontics and apex locators to work more precisely and with better control inside the root canal system.

Filling with gutta-percha.

After we clean and dry the canals, we seal them with gutta-percha. Sealing the canals helps block bacteria from re-entering the root canal system and reduces the risk of reinfection.

Restoring the tooth.

Finally, we rebuild the tooth with a permanent filling or crown. Back teeth often need dental crowns after root canal treatment because they take more chewing pressure. Depending on your tooth and smile goals, we may recommend emax crowns or zirconium crowns for a strong, natural-looking result.

Most treatments take 1–2 visits, depending on the level of infection and the complexity of the tooth’s root canal system.

What Are The Signs and Symptoms of An Infected Root Canal?

An infected root canal can feel quite different from normal tooth sensitivity. The pain may start without warning, feel worse at night, or become more noticeable when you lie down because of increased pressure inside the tooth.

Common warning signs include:

If any of these symptoms sound familiar, do not ignore them or continue to rely on painkillers. The sooner we can see the tooth, the better the chance of cleaning out the infection and saving it. If the damage is already too bad, we will honestly explain this and guide you to the safest option, which may be tooth extraction.

Your Dental Holiday: How Long Does the Treatment Take?

A simple root canal can often be completed in one clinic visit, usually around 60–90 minutes, depending on the tooth and the number of canals. If there is infection, swelling, or the tooth is more difficult to treat, especially a molar, we may recommend a second appointment so the tooth can settle and be reviewed safely.

If you also need a custom crown, we usually recommend planning a 4–6 day stay in Istanbul. Our patient coordination team can help arrange airport VIP transfers, hotel accommodation, and clinic transport, so your dental holiday feels organized from arrival to treatment.

How Can You Alleviate The Pain? (Recovery & Aftercare)

During root canal treatment, the tooth is fully numb, so you should not feel pain.

After treatment, it is normal to have some soreness, tenderness when biting, or jaw fatigue for a few days. This is usually caused by the infection itself, the work needed to clean the canals, and simply keeping your mouth open for a longer period during treatment.

To recover more comfortably:

If the pain gets worse after a few days, the swelling increases, or you develop a fever, bad taste, or difficulty swallowing, please contact us or seek urgent dental care. We would rather check the tooth early than let a small problem become a more serious one.

FAQs

Yes, it can. But at Avangart Dental Clinic, we only recommend extraction when saving the tooth is no longer the safest or strongest option. If the tooth still has enough healthy structure, root canal treatment may remove the infection and let you keep your natural tooth.

Extraction may be safer if the tooth is badly broken, has severe bone loss, or the infection cannot be controlled. If removal is required, we will discuss replacement options such as an implant or bridge, as well as the treatment timeline and cost.

In most simple cases, yes, it is usually safe to fly after root canal treatment. Many international patients travel home after their planned treatment, especially if pain, swelling, and infection are under control.

If the tooth had a large abscess, caused facial swelling, or needed to be drained, we may advise you to stay a little longer so we can review the area and make sure it is settling as expected before you travel. Before you leave Istanbul, we check that you are comfortable, that your bite feels right, that the temporary or permanent restoration is secure, and that you understand your medication instructions clearly.

A well-treated and properly restored root canal can last for many years. However, retreatment may be needed if bacteria re-enter the tooth over time, the filling or crown starts to leak, a hidden canal was missed during the first treatment, or new decay allows infection to return.

This is why the final restoration matters. In some cases, we recommend a crown after treatment, and we will explain the root canal crown cost clearly before moving forward. When helpful, we also invite patients to view our root canal success cases, including before-and-after images and case studies, so they can see the kind of stable, healthy results we aim to achieve.
